 I'm currently reading this completely misogynistic yet fascinating sci fi fantasy series by Peter V Brett

in which the tears of the wives of the heroes (yes, I said wives)
are collected, upon the battle death of the men, in these tiny tubes. The more tubes, the more the man was loved.

This brings dacryphilia

to a whole new level.

 Well, being a bit Englishy, I'd be really stoic (and lookin' a bit like Glynis Johns in one of those WWII dramas) and I'd be wafting about tryin' to make the tea while the test tube blokes would be gettin' all cheesed off, goin', 'C'mon Luv, we haven't got all day - we still got a dozen more to see after you…' and it would probably all end in tears. Or rather - not. But the tea would be good.

Sounds like an odd series, Mistress.

No no it's an awesome series! Unfortunately he is writing the third book so I have to wait. I follow the author on the Twit and he wrote most of the first book commuting to work on the train and subway- no mean feat.

You know how I am a bit of a frustrated writer? When I began the first book I was like, "This has inspired me to write a book about xxx;" and I thought I was all clever... but it turns out that he wrote the idea that popped into my head, as I found out in subsequent chapters. That's some good storytelling.

And yes, the English type response would be rather stoic, huh?
