... i never met you in that diner under the bridge by the liquor store or the midnight bus that passed seven starbucks in a row that face of yours made me cry too many times i'm ashamed to say because the glow of grace the gift of love was too deep inside for me to ever grasp i was always lost on the other side of the atlantic weeping over your sweet prose like rose thorns ripping my heart apart i always knew you were a star that i could only stare in wonder at my own words just pale shadows cast upon the dirty sidewalk outside that warm diner where you ate hash browns as if every time was always the first time and now that i know you've moved uptown i still like to drop by that diner and watch the other customers talk and drink coffee, and spill ketchup on the formica or their ripped jeans but deep inside me there's a yearning that still burns, that's still visible by the afterglow of your soul in the yellow acid luminescence embracing all the other lives that you've left behind that will never forget you or the hash browns that i never got to share with you. ... dedicated to trinity with love who wrote the title words in a post on this blog in june 2006 v ... |
