On the latter, do you mean the 'official' Catholic stance or realistically (if Catholics were polled, privately) ? There is likely a difference, you know.

If you couch the debate in terms of women's access to birth control,rank and file Catholics side with the Obama administration. If it's couched in terms of the federal government dictating to the church what it should do they side with the church hierarchy.

DOC THIS DEBATE IS A WINNER FOR YOUR PRESIDENT OBAMA THE REPUBLICANS FIGHT HIM ON EVERY ISSUE NOT REALIZING THAT THE MORE THEY ATTACK HIM THE DUMBER THEY LOOK. STANDING UP FOR WOMEN IS NOT A LOOSER FOR HIM IT JUST MAKES HIM LOOK LIKE THE INTELLIGENT DECENT CARING GUY THAT I ALWAYS ASSUMED HE WAS. I THINK THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY HATERS THEY HATE EVERYONE WHO IS NOT THEM. THEY SPENT $100,000,000 OF TAX PAYER MONEY TRYING TO DESTROY BILL CLINTON AND JUST MADE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES AND IT HAS BEEN HARD FOR ME TO TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY EVER SINCE. THEY HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT THAT WHEN THEY ATTACK LIKE A RABID DOG FOR NOT REASON THEY GIVE UP THEIR CREDIBILITY COMPLETELY AND THE MORE OFTEN THEY DO IT THE LESS LIKE IT IS THAT ANYONE WILL BE LISTENING EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE A LEGITIMATE BEEF. I KNOW THAT THEIR BASE IS LISTENING BUT NO RATIONAL PERSON CAN TAKE THESE CLOWNS SERIOUSLY. THEY HATED HILLERY EVEN MORE THAN THEY HATED BILL. THAT IS WHEN I GAVE UP ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY COMPLETELY AND I HAVE SEEN NOTHING SINCE TO MAKE ME THINK I WAS WRONG TO GIVE UP ON THEM. ALL OBAMA WILL NEED FOR AN EASY WALK TO REELECTION IS FOR THE REPUBLICAN DEBATES TO GO ON FOR A WHILE BECAUSE THE MORE WE SEE OF THE REPUBLICAN HOPEFULS THE MORE UNTHINKABLE IT IS FOR ONE OF THEM TO GET INTO THE WHITE HOUSE. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOUR PRESIDENT OBAMA DOES BUT WHEN EVER I WATCH ONE OF THOSE REPUBLICAN DEBATES I JUST SHAKE MY HEAD IN DISBELIEF. HAVE YOUR SAY, I HAVE HAD MINE
