....are chemicals that increase or enhance sexual desire and stamina. The term comes from Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Authorities generally agree that the best aphrodisiac is found in good health, supplemental vitamins exercise and rest-not in recreational drugs. Orgasms use a lot of stored energy. If a persons energy levels are low, they may not be able to achieve the orgasmic intensity they would like. There are two variations of aphrodisiacs: dietary and drugs. Dietary aphrodisiacs can be a plethora of natural supplements or substances that are believed >some with little proof< to enhance sex. These could include blood, animal parts, certain herbs and vitamin supplements. Drugs in general, even when taken in moderation, will lower inhibitions and have a slight analgesic effect, and basically tend to intensify feeling that is already present. Most commonly used/known are alcohol, amyl nitrite poppers, MDMA ecstasy and the ever famous Spanish Fly. Caution: There are many issue involved in a decision to use alcohol or drugs to improve sexual arousal. Some drugs are extraordinarily destructive. A self analysis would involve questions about ones emotional security, fear of impotence, sexual boredom with current partner, fear of intimacy with casual partners, risk of chemical addiction and performance anxiety. A person who insists on using drugs to enhance the sexual act may also risk damaging the partners self esteem by making him or her feel sexually inferior or inadequate..
