Should prostitution be legal?

Yes. Armed robbery is wrong because it is an illicit use of force. It should be illegal. Prostitution and other victimless crimes (various sexual practices, private drug use in a way that isn't harming others) is wrong because gutless worms in the legislature say it is. The morality behind victimless crime laws is: "We are created in God's image, therefore we shouldn't do thus and such." Believe that if you want to. You cross a line when you criminalize private consensual behavior that the state has no legitimate interest in regulating, just because YOU don't like it. The response of another commentator on this question on goldrn's blog was "it is necessary to prevent disease." Oh please. Can you say authoritarian? Anyone old enough to want a Prostitute is old enough to protect themselves. Similarly, it would be in the Prostitute's interest to be a font of wisdom about safe sex. Let sovereign individuals, and the free market, decide what conduct is rewarded and what isn't, apart from proscribing the illicit use of force. a bold beautiful woman is the world's natural sovereign

Yes, it certainly should be! It's one way of earning a living and fulfilling a need. Will probably clean up the whole business. Think it already is legal in Holland.
