Well, I can say why it rankles me, betty67. It is an assumed diminutive, which I do not appreciate. And yes, foulmama, I think it has that presumption of juvenility that also ticks me a bit. As you say, spectre95, labels rarely work to describe an entire person. But, if you string a bunch of them together, you might be able to begin to get a handle on how a person identifies. "broad" to me evokes some lout-mouthed-loud-suited sans-a-belt pants wearin-cigar-chompin too-many-rings-and-chains-havin' dude behind the wheel of a caddy just greeeeezin down the street thinkin' he's bad ass...and is just an ass. Mollena
