Please post below anything you think would be a fix to ALT, or something that has been crippled for a while that still needs addressing. The "check to get email when read"- box... That costs 100 points for us non-vip members.. Is now checked by default when sending emails on ALT.. Has not been before.. only recently have ALT made it checked by default.. And.. I thought it was a bug.. But.. apparently its not.. "Dear Member, Thank you for your email in regards to the read receipt feature. Please be advised that the read receipt box will be checked by default with every message sent to a member. If you do not intend to use the read receipt feature, you should uncheck the box next to "Check to get emailed when read for 100 points" before sending the message. Note that this feature is free for our VIP members. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thank you, " So.. seeing as its not a bug.. its intentional.. they WANT us to forget to specifically UN-check that box.. and.. non-intentionally use hard earned points.. I think they should change it back..

I guess I am still a little miffed by the "new" policy that takes a box that says "check" if you WANT (a read receipt) of email... and checks it forcing me to UNCHECK it every time I send an email. It was also very helpful when they had posted on the home page that "your membership expires on........... and auto-renew is set to......" For newcomers and not so newcomers. Arm yourself with knowledge

I still cannot believe that they are unable to block IP addresses of known trolls and troublemakers...the advice line is completely worthless as a result. The alternative--which I suggested to them ages ago--is to have the advice lines be a moderated group...either have a staff person approve postings or just get a couple members to do it...Someone like Doc would gladly do it. I realize the AL is pretty low on their priority list compared to attracting paying punters, but they should understand that it is a very public face of the site to newcomers, and when a new person goes there and reads a bunch of lunatic ravings it doesn't speak very well for the quality of anything else on the site...it'd drive me away if I didn't have a strong stomach.

I will second what Spiltsville has put, and also complain about the lack of response Alt have given me about somebody advertising illegally on here. Also how there often are times when I post a comment on somebodies blog and it doesn't show. Or that page gets stuck. I posted a blog recently about nastyvixen67 and how she is using bling with my pics on it, on her disgusting profile and i asked her to remove it but all she did was block me, and alt have done nothing to help me in this at all. I am most upset with it being on there. Thats enough ranting. Thanks Hun and good luck with them. Living my wild side....

I'd have a list of enhancement requests but if we're just talking about gripes on the existing system: Performance is an intermittent but consistent concern. One never knows if one will be able to get through a range of responses in a given sit-down session or will have to come back late at night when the server's are doing better. Stability is, I think also a performance-related issue. Sometimes the system is so slow, a dialog will time-out, leaving me with a blank screen and a lost bunch of text in blogs. The image server seems to suffer the most but this also means on a regular basis that images I'm trying to attach to a post only link on the 3rd, 4th, 5th try. I'm sure most users don't have that persistence (pronounced: bull-headedness) Searching for posts in a blog as long as mine has become a lost cause. The first page search results are from my blog, all successive pages are from the entire blog list. The number 1 blog thing I'd love of course, is to allow external URLs within a post (you could even change the target window to keep Alt as the "sticky" site) The number 1 email thing I'd love is a definable filter so I can tell all the trolls from Nigeria, Ghana and other such places that I'm really not interested in funding their trip to America. Flash Chat works for me about 1 out of every 10 tries. I've pretty much given up on it. IM barely works at all. When I try to contact someone with IM, it ends up like Max Smart and the Cone of Silence. I get the first line through then no others until finally I'm posting in an email "Can you hear me now?" *sigh* Escalating costs and rates are a concern also and what additional service I'm getting for my Gold ball. At one time the home page would show all the Members Currently Online from anywhere in the world. Now, regardless of *what* I put in my LoveDog settings, it shows only those from my home country. I wish the setting was changeable back to the way it was. That's it for now I think. C

The last few times I have tried to call your customer support line it seems that you people are overwhelmed... I would like to suggest that since the Customer support phone # is only made visible to paying members (actual customers), That you automaticly ban for 3 days any and all standard members using the # instead of e-mail and permanently ban any standard profile publicly advertising the # on Various Inc. sites... Also, impose a 3 day ban on paying members who publicly advertise the #...If this is done and since word travels fast I am sure this would unburden your phone lines quickly and make the experience of calling a much more pleasant one for paying customers... i'll second or third all the above complaints. to the wish list i'd add: 1. the ability to hide and unhide personal blog posts in a batch, instead of one by one. 2. a ban/block member option when browsing profiles. (collarme has this feature, and it is *hugely* helpful.) it's annoying to have to repeatedly go to one's account information and add names to the blocked list one by one. it would be so much nicer to be able to block an undesirable with a simple mouse click. 3. a more concentrated effort toward investigating bona fide TOS violations, and less harassment of people who are NOT violating TOS. won't add more because time is almost up. thanks for posting this Mollena! Though I suspect issues have been covered, I'll just note that images are not loading at all lately. I have DSL and every other website I pull up comes up in a blink. This site, I get little red X's where profile thumbs should be. I was formerly a paying customer, lack of site speed makes me hesitant to renew membership. I'm sure it'd be an upgrade, but the ability to selectively block/ban who is watching my cam would be great. I just don't feel too sexy when men are watching my public broadcast, and my profile clearly states I'm not interested. "Filter" just hides their presence from me, it doesn't block them. Emails seem to be confiscated for no reason. Yes i know that personal information cannot be exchanged unless there are at least 3 or more emails exchanged. However, there is never any personal information exchanged for far more than 3 emails and messages are still being confiscated. It would be extremely helpful to have people in customer service that actually know what they are talking about. I had an issue with a network friend invitation not being accepted. Come to find out that standard members cannot invite standard members to their network. Customer service did not seem to know this fact and put me through all kinds of stuff...we're looking into it, here is a reference number, call back in a week if it is not working and blah, blah, blah. Much aggravation for nothing. Customer service never did reveal that a standard member cannot invite another standard member to their network. I figured it out on my own and through conversations with other. Customer service even went as far to go into my profile with their user name and invited me into their network then said...yes it is fixed now. However, they were a gold member so of course it worked.

A NOTETO THOSE JUST COMING ON Officially I have to get this list to my Manager for forewarding the Powers That Be. HOWEVER. Please continue to post, because this is underscoring the viability and ease with which we CAN funnel real user concerns via existing channels. The idea of habing a focus group is being floated around. I'm not sure ho / it this woudl be implimented, but it is obvious that there ar emany active users of all levels who have constructive and viable imput. Keep it rolling. When I first joined ALT you had a feature that allowed me to email everyone in my network at once, instead of, how it is now, one at a time. I think you should bring that feature back. I feel that standard members should be able to contact gold members without us having to pay an additional fee.

My biggest pisser is blaming every users' own computer and OS when noting any issue to cust service Browser cache and all that other bullshit is just that bullshit They need to have the balls to own up to their own fuck ups and lack of current technology ie servers that can support what they claim to offer *ASK* the membership at large if we want any of the new gadgets, changes ect they keep making thay we're subjected to at random in their effprts to make their sites like LJ, myspace etc I'd like to speak to a cust service person who is *NOT* reading off a script and can actually address and resolve problems As a global company here's a novel idea have call centers in the continent at least where people are calling from Half of writing history is hiding the truth. - Malcom Reynolds

It stretches credibility to the utter limit when the only answer I got was one asking what browser and OS I was using, along with a suggestion that it was all my fault anyway but why not try deleting ALL cookies (so I lose all my pw for other sites). This was even the response I got to a serious problem last year where, despite ticking the "no search engines" box, my profile was coming up fully in search engines, even tho ordinary browsing punters could not see my profile unless they logged in. This was a gross violation of my personal info and alt did not seem to care one jot. I fail to see what browser and OS I am using has got to do with qooqle successfully trawling members info. Do Qooqle have a membership? How do they get in otherwise? And that's another gripe, what nonsense is it, that the use of the word qooqle (but spelt with a g instead of q) gets a post banned? There are other similar words which are similarly taboo for no credible reason that one can think of. I think I can safely say that alt's customer service is the worst of any company I have ever dealt with in terms of: a) Not solving the problem b) Not accepting that the problem exists b) Insulting or patronising the complainant Robin

I don't see how this would help your cause. After the ban is lifted, the calling would resume. And even if the public advertising of the number is stopped, the fact remains the number will always be available in some form or another, if not publicly then privately...the word will get out. Banning anyone for using a customer service number is defeatist to the entire site. Although I doubt very seriously that the calling would resume after the ban is lifted...Why would someone do something to get them banned again right after they just got banned for it?Your reasoning makes no sense at all... Not everything on this site is set up for non paying members such as yourself to take advantage of...This is an idea to help improve the service offered to those who pay for it...Everyone is given the opportunity to contact Alt through mail and My experience has been that the service given through mail contact is top notch...Standard members really have nothing to complain about on this site...Various Inc. offers more for free than another sites on the internet by far... I read each comment above with interest. For what it's worth, I remember when the alt site sucked so badly I never logged on-- and that was only like seven or eight years ago. About three or four years ago when I started blogging the site was so fucking slow to update we regularly bitched about alt needing enemas. It's soooo much better than it was! I agree with someone who said that if you are a non paying member then you should really focus on the benefits of alt and not the problems. However, when you've paid for a gold membership for years and years and you are not happy with the service the choice then becomes leave or stop paying. Despite the many problems clearly outlined above, alt provides a great environment to do your thang. Now to the part where I bitch  Lilith once estimated the income generated at alt. I would link to it but you know how she hides posts, etc. Anywho, the number was huge. I don't get how a company whose sole purpose is to run an internet site cannot make said site the best fucking site using all of that money. Maybe that is my own ignorance regarding managing a site... I dunno. But this site is very slow and the technology isn't as impressive as other sites I have been to. Worse yet, alt does not effectively weed out trolls and advertisements and fake profiles and people whose sole purpose is to fuck with someone else. Alt purports to police itself vis a vis the TOS violations, but it doesn't. I would love to have a turn off my whole blog when I feel like it just have a button like the turn your profile off ,, also I think for the interest groups they should have calendars like Wahoo does so many host events or chats and that would make it so easy to see what is going on in that group ,, also when you post or edit a topic in the groups it has to be submitted ,, heck they don't do that for the blogs why for the topics ,, also if they got rid of the rooms that are hardly ever used in the main chat pages I think they wouldn't be so bogged down if it was me I would see what things seem to interest people the most easily checked out by looking at the most active interest groups and add theses as a room.. and my biggie,, I think alt needs a library.. one with links to other sites ,,its big enough to handle it they wouldn't lose any more money than they do now,, a library with definitions with places to read up on different lifestyle choices ,, ie Gorean lifestyle ,, serves okay so I have thought about this alot but here is my last thing I hope ,alt could also generate money by having a buy and sell or barter page . people who make whips or collars or other toys or furniture that ones look for could find it simply by going to that page ~*~ elf ~*~ I'm fluent in elfspeak.

i would like to be able to download, save (and protect)my blogs....and second many of the issues here, particularly speed...but mostly..i want to protect my blogs from loss..and would love to just download the whole boat...god forbid the whole site go down and we lose all those luscious stories or poems or whatever....just a thought...and thank you for this...excellent idea...

What a GREAT topic! Here goes, reposted from a recent blog post I did. 1) In profiles, if there are a certain number of pictures (say 9), you cannot see the last picture in the list on left hand side of the picture displayed (so the list with thumbnails will display only 8 pictures). You CAN see the last picture if you scroll using the back/forward arrows on top of the displayed picture. 2) If my blog post is shown as written on "Jan 5, 2009" in the header of the post, the little calendar on the right hand side ("my blog" view) shows that same post for Jan 4, 2009. Not always though so I'm guessing both components use a different way to handle timezones... 3) And most importantly. Please make email service reliable. Have you looked at how much you charge gold members lately? Are you telling me we cannot at least expect decent email service without mails disappearing all the time (i.e. not arriving)? And no, they don't end up in my "bulk" folder (a practice that is by the way spiteful for all kinds of reasons). 4) Single quotes in blog titles don't work. They truncate the blog title. 5) Performance, especially of the "picture" server is horrendous. It depends on time of day and fluctuates between days apparently but sometimes the site is just useless. 6) Perhaps you should hire some people in customer support who read emails before they send back a standard reply? The amount of times I've written a mail and they ask something I explicitly mention in my mail is crazy. I'm sure there's more... Ghost

i have another suggestion... it would be really, REALLY helpful if alt stopped pulling in new members from AdultFuckFinder. i mean, stop advertising alt there, and offering points or bonuses or whatever for the cross-pollination. it is just not doing THIS site any good. simply, we are not what THEY are looking for, and they are not what WE are looking for. i wish alt would stop implying here and elsewhere that this is where lonely, socially-challenged losers should come for wild, kinky, NSA sex. not saying we as a group DON'T have wild, kinky, NSA sex, but i'd rather we weren't perpetually EXPLOITED for that. and it's hardly ALL that's going on here. simply, if alt intends to make money off lifestyle people, focusing marketing for and within the site TO lifestyle people would show a level of respect that overall is just lacking. complaints about alt hhhmm where do i and is there enough time and space. Well 1) site is far to slow because it is overwhelmed with thousands if not hundreds of thousands of in ac tive or even non excisting and deleted profiles,people who have not been active for more than 3 months should be deleted and there pic and profile should not still be showing it is just cluttering up the site. 2) On the main homepage the section saying recent new members when you click on it you find out that the majority of the so called recent NEW members are not NEW at all as many of them joined more than 2 yrs ago and have not even been active for more than 3 months and in some cases there profile has been deleted, new members should be what it says and no profile in that section should be more than 30 days old i think. 3)Another thing that slows the site down is all the irritating adverts that are constantly flashing in your face all the time get rid of all that crap would massively speed up the site. 4)People whos profiles show that they are on line when they are not on line and in some cases no longer even have a profile as it has been deleted long ago but they still from time to time show up saying they are currently online ive had this even in my freinds network it says so and so is on line when you go to look at there profile it says profile does not excist or has been deleted. 5)Mileage indications of how far a person lives from you is an absolute joke, and is so wildly inaccurate it is ridiculous.I live about 20 miles from London or roughly 32kms yet people in London show up as being anything from 10kms to 690kms in some cases ive seenand people in say Plymouth for instance which is about 300kms away from me sho up as about 60kms away it is so far out and so inaccurate its a waste of time even having it on there. 6)Scams from african countrys noticibly Nigeria/Ghana/Kenya where there are stunningly goodlooking girls with obviously proffesionally taken photos wearing really expensive clothes and photgraphed in luxurious houses or settings you get messages from these girls saying they are in London or similar but you actually find out that they really live in Africa and want you to send them money ,buy them a mobile phone or a plane ticket to the uk etc etc these should all be weedled out and blocked. etc etc etc

I am a very dissatisfied gold member,I joined as a gold member so I could contact ladies I was interested in,but now I have to be a VIP at a cost of $30 extra a month to get past the cupid list that i shouldn't have to do because I already paid for the gold membership!!!I am not going to renew my membership at this point because I will not spend that kind of money for something that in 8 years hasn't even gotten me any connections at all!!!this site seems more about how much money it can make for it's owners than about getting people together!!!! What is the purpose of having a filtering system If $30 bucks from someone else makes it useless? "Unreal" and proud of it!

One Person, many, many profiles since October, 2006. (including the current known ethicaldom4 & suckycheryl. And Alt Abuse Department can & will do nothing to stop this deranged & psychotic elderly woman gaining access to its site to continue her Profile Manufacturing & ongoing abuse of its Terms of Service within blogs & at the Magazine's Advice Line. One of its more recent & typical examples - [group_post 430979] - & and still Alt shall do nothing. Current & Past: with Blog Links, when Alt hasn't deleted the blogs for offensive & abusive content. KottonKandeeGirl, 53kottonkandeeGirl LittleSassySlut, 57, (which included an on-line suicide threat - one of four to date). Chat room bullying is my biggest issue here. ALT should not ignore repeated complaints about chatters who freely admit they are on the site only to cause trouble. When those same chatters tell newbies "your mother would be proud" or "go shoot yourself before you produce more freaks" etc, they really ought to be fully and finally banned. Verbal attacks on members, simply for being interested in BDSM (the supposed reason for this site's existence) should not be ignored went reported as chat room abuse. EGO xxx

I have to agree with MsRebecca004, although I didn't realize there were THAT many profiles. I and My Partner, Brandi, have only recently experienced the thread hijacking that goes on within the Advice Lines. It got to the point in Mine and Brandi's Questions and articles that I posted My "Statement of Intent" in the Advice Line, the articles, and Mine and Brandi's blogs, and which I do enforce and is My Right. And I was "admonished" for doing so by those that have seen this particular individual or individuals trash the Advice Lines for the last 4 years, that it wouldn't do any good. That all I could do was ignore it. Well I'm sorry. I go to the Advice Line and articles to learn. How can I do that if I'm constantly running into this ongoing war??? More importantly, why would a Newcomer looking for advice and information want to?? Second, even though I realize it could cost, I absolutely believe that at least one chat room, the Newbie Room should have a 24 hour moderator. This room is designated by alt as a place for Newcomers to come and learn about the lifestyle. Yet, I constantly see individuals blatantly critisize and ridicule those who they don't agree with, or don't fit in with the particular group that has made that room their personal domain. Third, I recently emailed a complaint to the abuse department about something that is a CLEAR VIOLATION of the TOS and is Legally Actionable under the current Internet Laws. I also contacted customer support via the phone number they list. I actually had to walk the person I spoke with through the procedure on how to verify what I was reporting. When they finally saw what I called about, they agreed that it was a violation of the TOS and is Actionable themselves. But could they connect Me with the abuse department?? Nope. I and My Brandi are Gold Members, I've been on alt for about 9 months, and I've been a Gold Member for about 6 months under this profile and My old one. Brandi was a Silver Member under Her own profile, as well as being a Gold Member under Her current one. But I'm giving serious consideration to not renewing either of us. And that equates to a loss of revenue of just over $600 a year based on the current rate for a 3 month Gold membership. Granted, We are only two people. But it's plainly obvious that this amount is a mere drop in the bucket from the number of people I've seen that have dropped their paid memberships because of the lack of responsibility that alt has shown towards it's own TOS concerning abuse. This is a SERIOUS loss of revenue that I doubt the parent company of alt.com can afford. Why should I renew a membership for a site where people can spout abusive language at those of us who are serious about this Lifestyle knowing that they can get away with it?? And blatantly say so?? Though this has been already stated I'm going to give my two cents worth. The Advice Line feature of ALT has been held hostage by a very small group of people for as long as I have posting there. I feel the AL would benefit by having some system of consistent moderation in place. Any post made with the intent to harass, flame, snipe, hijack, or incite further disruption should be immediately deleted. The member should receive a timeout from posting for a set period of time. If the member has a history of bypassing the system, creating a new profile in order to carry out more TOU violations their account should be deleted ASAP as well as their blog and any other posts that are in clear violation of the TOU. Time is of the essence when these violations take place. Consistency is of the utmost importance.

Blogs... sigh. Any blog I go to, where it should show "Most Recent Comments by (blog owner)" it says, "Most Recent Comments by SensualSolution"... it shows the comments that the owner has made, but it shows my nic. On the Main Blog page, when I click on "view all" to see my watched blogs, it shows me the whole list of "most active recent posts" rather than the blogs I watch... I can't see beyond the first 15 that I watch, that are automatically shown on the blog main page. Same with "New Posts" view all ... it shows the "most active recent posts"... Sigh... i lost 300 points due to the change in alt settings, where alt automatically decided to email us about email being read. i wrote to them twice and never received a reply. the last time i wrote to them because even after my first email, they still took 100 points when someone i emailed, and double checked to be sure the box was not checked for the alert when email was read. they took the 100 points anyway and never answered either email.

Hi Mollena - First thank you for your hard work on our behalf. My concern is that for about the last 4 days I have been unable to view all of my watched blogs. I see the first page and then when I click on "View All" I get the blogs that have the most recent activity. Same for the other areas as well as my watched blog list. I'm not sure why and I've tried shutting down and signing in again with no change. I'm missing my watched blogs - any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I can't find the activity bonus link anymore? Is it just gone? I absolutely HATE having ads on my profile...I think the PAYING members should have the option to show/see ads or not. Leave the ads to the standards if they want them. I'm not saying standards are less important as PEOPLE, but as the saying goes "You get what you pay for" (well, I want what I pay for!). Sometimes it takes half a dozen tries to get a picture to load on my blog. Pictures are removed from my blog after being posted (non-offensive ones...can't figure out the reasoning there). And another thing...I just sent a complaint through because of the issue with not being able to get to my "Watched Blogs" list. Maybe I wasn't very tactful...but I've lost my patience with the so-called support dept. I said "Okay, here's the thing.... I have about 3 pages of blogs I "watch". But right now I can only see the 15 that show up on the Member Blogs page that comes up when I click "blogs" and "blog main". The section where my watched blogs are has a heading that says "My Watched Blogs View All"...but when I click to view ALL my watched blogs it takes me to THIS page http://alt.com=11075742_19977&trlid=blog_main-99 which shows ALL the blogs...NOT my watched ones. No, it is not MY operating system...or a problem with my cache and cookies needing to be cleared. It is NOT a problem with MY computer (because it has happened on 4 different computers using 3 different browsers and 3 different OS's). PLEASE fix this on YOUR end." They replied back to me "Dear Member, Thank you for contacting the Customer Support. I'm sorry, we can't link the URL you provided to us from our end. Please tell us where the page takes you when you clicked the "View all" in My Watched Blogs? If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again. Thank you, Freda C. Add us to the whole list of complaints already stated AND with no help from customer support. Right down to being told that things like my account hadn't been logged into for 3 yrs (utter rubbish!) to there's nothing wrong and being patronized by customer support (its not our end its your computer OS etc). To add to it (know its after the deadline) I reported months ago that the HTML IMC wasn't working (it just continually says loading.....) and the problem has yet to be fixed! Ok so saying I'm a sweet little virgin innocent  would be a tad untruthful!

The automatic deduction of points has really annoyed me as well as the ALT teams refusal to either properly read and comprehend and address my letters of complaint and the refusal to credit my points back to me. I agree with 'Vossainto,' who said it well. I would Also, like to "third" or "fourth," or 'however-how-many,' the very REASONABLE Complaints about Alt.s new: "check to get email when read"- box... default to "on" policy: "The "check to get email when read"- box... That costs 100 points for us non-vip members.. Is now checked by default when sending emails on ALT.. this Has not been before.. only recently have ALT made it checked by default.." With all due respect: It SUCKS. It's a Really, Really, Terrible Idea. Alt is a wonderful Venue, with many feature-benefits: but it cheapens the site, to sap a Members' reserves, with an involuntary-default to "take things away," from us. Not only does it look like: ".. they WANT us to forget to specifically UN-check that box.. and.. non-intentionally use hard earned points..." it delivers the message that someone, or persons at the top, do NOT CARE about the "decisions," "needs" and "desires," of the 'majority of' we, lower Alt.-ians! Alt. impresses with the promise of a wealth of benefits, and so it should aspire to the high-ideal image they present: and not make it hard or extremely annoying and time-consuming to "refuse to lose points, or value!" The: "read receipt box will be checked by default with every message sent to a member:" Policy is unfairly Sneaky, and seems disrespect to the morals and honesty of ALL paying customers --which Alt. seeks to promote. Mo .... i'd like it if when we block someone from Magazine/Blog Comments, Sending Emails/Winks, Search/Browse Results and Appearing in Chat, that they would go away, away. And no longer be visible to me that they are still there, just can't communicate with me. i have had men look at my profile every day or every other day for months. And when i finally ask them about it, they say it must be an Alt faux pas. Well, we all know better than that. It's just plain creepy and bordering on the line of stalking i would say. (And yes they are also blocked.) Also, can't we do something about guys with bottles up their asses on my home page. i am a sub, i don't need to see sub men. i want to see hot sexy single Doms. Hi Mo, Hopefully you're still monitoring this post My particular pet peeve is the insistence of the page designers on leaving huge amounts of empty black space everywhere! As I'm entering this commment, there is 1 1/2" of black space encroaching on your blog post to the right side of my screen. Profile pages are similarly skewed, etc. Since most of us get the largest monitor we can afford so we can view content, it seems really rediculous not to simply spread the content to the width of the monitor, right? Ok, I've never complained before, just satisfied myself with a few tricks I've learned to correct things on my own. But this morning I went to my Blog Main page and the entire right column has been moved to the bottom of the left column! This means the features I use most (watched blogs listing) are at the bottom of several pages of scrolling while nearly the entire right half of my screen is a black hole! WTF Monkeys?!? Sorry about the not-so-PC "ALT-monkey" references, but you have to understand that we in ALT-land need someone to burn in effigy for all the frustrations... and I'd rather blame a metaphorical construct than the real people who work there. Mar 15, 2009 9:11 pm 13 views I've spent most of the day working on my book & occasionally coming into here to comment on blogs I've found interesting -useful as a break from Bomber Command in 1943. For lunch I had Stilton Cheese & three glasses of Port. This is a habit I got from a friend who was a Major in the Royal Marines, a very cool yachting bloke, who played a major role in Britain winning the Falklands War back in 1982. Royal Marines Officers have stilton & port evenings. I remember I went to Portsmouth Naval Dockyard, after we had won, when the Aircraft Carriers HMS Hermes & HMS Invincible came home, rust stained & with White Battle Ensigns flying, with the crews lining the flight decks. The shore was a sea of people huge numbers of them waving Union Jacks & White Ensigns. A Royal Marines band was playing 'Rule Britannia' & not a few girls were flashing their tits. It was a bloody fine thing to be British. I actually shed a tear or so, because it was so crazy & yet so beautiful. I would not have missed that for the world, although I knew we would win if the political types let the Service types do their job. I never thought I would see it, the Empire Strikes back indeed. I was young & there were my heros coming home victorious, my heart felt big in my chest. I will not even mention the Captain of the Royal Navy Warship who, as the Argentine jets screamed overhead cannoning & bombing his ship & as his anti aircraft boys fired back with guns & missiles, kept his crew calm by reading them the latest Test Cricket scores, thats just too British for anyone not British, or at least Commonwealth, to understand, but its very, very, cool. But it is all about understatment, thats the real cool. So that set me to thinking about the British Army Major General I used to work with. We were both in a tiny workshop near Woolwich learning how to make model soldiers. Actually sculpting them in clay so you can make casts. I was a damned Private in the British Army, but there he & I were equals, both learning something. So that set me to thinking strange jobs I've done & that made me think of Guarding a 'Casino' -read big slot machine/pokey place- in South Africa with a 9 mil in the back of my waist belt or, in London, using sweet wrappers that you first shred & then put into a half hundred weight bailing machine to make stuff that then gets used to stuff the lining of coffins (I kid you not). Or again, in RSA the Taxi Violence Unit. We were supposed to stop Black Taxi drivers killing each other with the aid of pump action shotguns & 9 mils & it was not like a real safe job, trust me. Then there was running an internet cafe in Cairns, Australia for an Arab bloke, but I digress. Life is really weird sometimes, this has been the recurring lesson of my life. This time I am going to finish this damned novel. All I know for a fact is, it can be damned cool, when I'm with the right person. Be well folks. Dear Molena: A number of seasoned Members, myself included, feel like the standards of our community are not well served by a promotion offering money back if new gold and sliver members don't get laid in the first three months of their new memberships. Perhaps you can imagine good reasons why we would feel that way. A quick perusal of AL will certainly dredge up specifics. I wonder what kind of community we will have with such seasoned Members alienated in this way, and my inevitable conclusion is one less attractive into to those who would be attracted to the offer. I realize that Alt is a profit making enterprise, not a populist democracy. But there is a terrific post on Newtosublife's blog about Sears. Woe betide Alt and this community if Alt manages to alienate the seasoned Membership here in an analogous fashion. Thanks for sensitively listening to and acting upon my complaint.

It is distressing to see the direction Alt is taking. I can understand, to a point, some of the steps that have been taken in limiting the access of Standard Members, after all the company needs to make a profit. There is one thing Management should keep in mind, most of the women on the site are Standard Members. With the first step of limiting access, now advertising that "New members will get laid or their money back". The site is becoming more and more hostile to the women on it. Many of my friends have left, and I too am considering it. You would not be out any cash from me, I'm one of those dreaded "Standard Members". But one thing to keep in mind, the men already outnumber the women on this site, if you succeed in driving away the rest, how many Gold and Silver Memberships do they think they will sell? I can only agree wholeheartedly with the previous posts...all the Get Laid promo will do is flood the chatrooms with more knuckle dragging trolls. Whoever your advertising spin doctor is I suggest you find a new one, or try something crazy like listening to the people who use the site, before they all give up and leave. Molina, I am horrified and offended by the new advertising line regarding "Get Laid in Three Months". It is offensive to women, and you will see your women subscribtions dropping off. Personally, I have been a silver member in the past, and was going to join again as a silver, but not with this type of banner flying! I will be using CollarMe instead.......I believe you will only succeed in annoying the silly men who do sign up, the profile will be 20 something yr. olds, who only contact will be the women they write to, who respond only to berate them for their ignorance. I am club owner, I own Lair de Sade, see Lairdesade.com I know that there are quite a few other actual club owners who are members of ALT. When I originally signed up with ALT I had a feature that allowed me to mass email party invites to anyone in my ALT Friends Network. That feature was eliminated. I suggest that you create a special catagory for actual club owners, and reinstate that feature for them. I have over 4000 members worldwide. The majority are not ALT members. If that feature existed I could run my mailing list through ALT. My members would join ALT to be on the mailing list. Many other clubs would do the same. You'd have a never ending supply of real bdsm practitioners posting their profiles on your website. Let me know what you think. Kane
