Premium Members and the Renewal Page.

Howdy!

This is a blog post in an official capacity. I will try to post a personal blog soon for those who don't read my outside blog and might be mildly curious abut things....

But. Onto work.

Yes there was a big-ass outage today. While all of the servers catch up, there will probably be some lag. And weirdness.

Regarding the Renewal page: yep, it is a way to increase
revenue.

I'm aware that lots of people don't dig it.

I've asked around, and learned there IS a way to have it deactivated.

If you are not pleased with seeing the renewal page every time you log-in, contact Customer service and advise the Representative
that you wish for them to deactivate the upsell-page that appears
after login, so as to be hidden from your sight!

Voila.

Thanks, and please spread the word.

Peace

Mollena

Whew.

Thank you for advising on this rather annoying Renewal page ad. Now the ball is in my court.

Nice to know Mollena. One small problem for us though. Its an international call for us which we cant really afford to make so I suppose will have to put up with it.

Though over on the sister site a ff they have a blog set up for premium members to leave a note on if they wish it turned off.

would this be something to look at?

Ok so saying I'm a sweet little virgin innocent would be a tad untruthful!

Greetings.

They have a different support system in place there. I do understand not wanting to place an international call, but in lieu of that you can e-mail CS and advise them of the same request

Peace

Hey, I've sent them a number of emails only to be told they can't stop the renewal thing coming up. Now I also have to put up with another page that appears before the home page loads reminding me my gold expiration is approaching.
They just don't give it a rest, do they?
They've certainly lost me as a renewing gold member.
Wonder how many more paying members they're losing through their own stupidity.

I think you must have spoken to representatives who were unaware of the added capacity.

I've gone ahead and contacted CS about your issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

This upgrade page is an annoyance, but far more serious is the impression of incompetence that Alt. management gives. Why would I want to upgrade, even though I could easily afford it, if alt. can't even manage the services it provides to get standard members to participate more actively? I refer to the so-called system of letting standard members accumulate "scores," (not the points system, which is an additional problem) or whatever they accumulate for posting articles or responses or being viewed, that capriciously allow them to read other members' profiles and send emails. Alt. makes no effort to explain this system, and mismanages the systems it does provide standard members. For example, I have several times been double-charged points for sending an email (e.g. charged 400 points for sending an email that was supposed to cost 200 points) and was ignored when I complained. Why would I pay $100 for 12 months of silver membership, or $150 for 18 months of gold membership, when past experience as a silver member and current experience as a standard member leads me to believe that they will not keep accurate records and will be unresponsive if I complain?

I am so offended by the renewal screen that I do not plan to renew whereas before that I was quite willing to renew.

And I have NO intention of contacting someone to deactivate it.
