Larry421's interpretation makes more sense to me. I, and those I respect the most, I believe, do not want to be needed. Neediness and dependence are not attractive to the self-confident. Vulnerability is fine, but we should be ok alone and enriched by our connection. My ex used to say he loved me because I needed him. Well, I never did actually need him or anyone in particular. I do respect and desire my One intensely, however.
