One of these trees is not like the other.

I don't know how this is supposed to go, but it hasn't been bad at all. I don't dwell on the single person's lifestyle, what it means, lonely or not, I just keep it up, as it's better than any of the alternatives. And Happy Birthday, you; mine was last week. I just gave you a semicolon.

I played that one on the radio as it was becoming a classic hit. I just looked at the dates. Half the album was recorded in the last week of 1974 - as late as December 30th, like Tangled Up - and the album was released on January 20, 1975! Three weeks? Go figure! I don't seem to have that vinyl where it's supposed to be, though.

I'm getting my turntable properly set up and leveled, and the glossary of tonearm/cartridge setup language is being dusted off & brushed-up. I've roughly digitized albums over the years but I knew it was roughly done. Still, my recording of Phil Manzanera's out of print Primitive Guitars album last month has brought out sounds I'd never noticed.

Maybe my next career will be akin to the elderly piano tuners of yesteryear, except for turntables. xoxo

Happy Belated Birthday. I know the feelings your talking about after being very sick. don;t know what it is like to get arrested. But I have been in prisons scary places.

There is nothing wrong for having a day inside your head and not thinking about everyone or anyone else.

LIfe goes on and we keep on keeping on.

I could not live without music either. In fact, I can't play anything on my computer from the web at the moment. It is bugging me to no end

Happy belated B-Day! Please remember to always take care of #1. Enjoy all that life throws at you.... the good, the bad, the ridiculous, and the crazy. Enjoy every minute! Its all you can do.

FYI -- just turned 39 myself and had the same thoughts run through my head. Where did time go? What have I done? Etc... Kept returning to the experiences... not the material things, money, etc. They don't matter. Like you said... live your life. Enjoy!!

Belated Birthday Happiness wishes to you Brim!

Sorry you had to spend some time in the Pokey too. In the Pokey without a harmonica or writing implement - that's just cruel & unusual punishment! That part really sucks, but it's good that for once you were able to think about #1 at a later point. No matter how much we feel for our other special friends, there are times when we have to make the time to take the time to examine where we are in life and figure out what we're doing right or wrong and how we could do better for ourselves, otherwise we can't be in a good enough place to be the best at looking after our special ones as we could be.

We are ALL infinitely imperfect creatures, no matter what anyone tries to say. There are a myriad of minor things that make us that way, whether physical, mental, behavioral, or otherwise, but it is exactly those imperfections which also make us appealing, engaging, and amazing human beings, for perfect humanity would be a quite boring lot! As long as one is not actively engaged in the harming of others, the imperfections are what make us greatly unique individuals.

Sure, we can work on the imperfections that limit us or that hold us back from where we want to be, but other than that, why bother?

I have to admit that Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue" is one of the songs that I truly think that he himself did best. Normally, I think that he's quite the writer, but his voice just doesn't give the best justice to his own songs IMHO. Jimi Hendrix, lent some incredible guitar and somehow, just the right voice and phrasing to a number of Dylan's tunes, but for that song, there's nothing like Dylan singing it, just nice, raw and out there!

A superhappybirthday to you, brim. The world is better for you in it, I just know it. You bring a fierceness to life that inspires me each and every time I read your blog. While you're a bit on survival mode ( and believe me, I've gotten pretty well acquainted with that mode), that's ok for now. You'll gear up when it's your time to gear up and then gogogo.

huge hugs your way and I'm with roni that a beer on a sunny patio would be ideal!

Ugh... you had to remind me on the approaching 40 thing.

Enjoy everyday. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and excellent taste in music. Looking forward to some in June at the Firefly Festival in DE... but first... 2 weeks in Italy. Ciao!

Awesome time in Italy. Thanks for asking! Rome, Florence, Venice, finished with a few days on Lake Como. Relived a few weeks of my college years. Finished with a stay on Lake Como. An absolutely beautiful place to get away and just take in the view, eat well, drink great wine, and relax. Highly recommend it! Hope all is well with you!
