WTF is the "Southern Policy Law Center"?

And why would any serious person consider a piece from Business Insider - a site notorious for its style of clickbait-ridden, inaccurate "journalism" (see my first question - two days after publication the "article" remains uncorrected) - to be anything but the work of a hack?

I remember now.

I don't defend Bannon or Breitbart. I'm not a fan of either.

I'm also not a fan of Business Insider. That site approaches journalism in much the same manner as the various Yahoo News sites did when Yahoo relied on their (thankfully now defunct) Contributor Network for "news" content.

This is the brave new world of journalism: Anyone (ranging from the bathrobe-garbed hausfrau seated at a kitchen table to the basement-dwelling gamer/manchild) with Internet access and the ability to copy/paste material (without proper attribution, let alone payment, to the original author - I write this from personal experience) from previously published pieces is now a cyber-journalist.

As far as online journalsim is concerned: Breitbart is to the alt-right as Business Insider is to the alt-shite ( feel free to use that in a future post). (And of course I tracked down the original source material.)

I remember now.

I don't characterize that as a silly mistake made by a pro. Nor do I characterize it as a typo.

I do characterize it as the all-too-common (and predictable) result of the amateurish inattention to detail (and accuracy) for which Business Insider is known. I don't know if the writer relied on auto-suggest / auto-correct while he composed that copy/paste assemblage piece, but that error should have been caught when the piece was proofread by the writer prior to submission for publictation. (It stuck out like a thumb to my eye from the writer the first time I read the piece.)

What those types of errors demonstrate about Business Insider is the lack of journalistic quality control among both the writers and the editors. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't expect quality journalism from a site founded by someone convicted of securities fraud.

I remember now.

I was not, nor am I currently, a Trump supporter. I'm also not going to spazz out over the election result as if it's 1920s / 1930s Spain, Italy, and Germany all over again.

I manage to keep up to date on the news just fine thankyouverymuch.

I remember now.

It was me and you are well aware although I don't consider myself reactionary in either the noun or verb context. I said then and I say now, if you as in the collective you youunderstand what negative interest rates are, nobody would agree with it. It gives banks a great way to raise revue off the backs of depositors. It's appalling for the end user...ordinary investors That being said, if it was my job to raise a trillion dollars, I'd be jumping for joy at a negative interest rate environment. That is simply a fact a skilled economic advisor would know. And I'd believe nothing I see printed in the BI except the pink sheets when they print them.

I'm not "attempting to distract attention away from the substance" of your post. (That assertion reads like I'm part of some vast right-wing conspiracy.) If anything, my comments will likely draw more attention to your post. People can decide for themselves whether my comments distract their attention away from the substance of your post. I don't care one way or the other, just as they likely don't care that I happen to be more interested in the shite source of the post than I am in the content of the post itself (because the story was already old news to me when I read your post earlier today).

Like every other member of this BDFS, I write about / comment on things that interest me even if nobody else gives a fuck about those things.

On a more serious note: I'll contact you in approximately four (or eight) years to let you know it's safe to leave the bunker. In the meantime, maybe you and bbh can swap freeze-dried food recipes.

I remember now.

Organizing a Vigilante Committee, are we? Your reply could have been written by the current governor of NYS (a Democrat). Certain people (conservatives) with certain beliefs (that the First and Second Amendments protect rights rather than grant rights - how un-American / un-New Yorker) are not welcome in my state / my neighborhood. So takes steps to drive them away - all while portraying them as the face of hatred and intolerance. Where is George Orwell when we need him?

Again: I talk about / write about / comment on whatever intertests me. The substance of your post doesn't interest me (because, as I previously noted, it was already old news to me when I read your post - it was already old news when the writer for Business Insider copy/pasted his piece from other sources). You choose to characterize my comments as attempts to distract from the substance of your post. I choose to address the shite nature of Business Insider as a reliable news source because that is the only part of your post I find interesting. I could point you to articles in reputable publications that make that same point (more politely than I did, of course) but I believe that would be a waste of my time.

For what it's worth: Anyone interested in determining which of us has pursued an agenda over the years only has to read our blogs and our comment histories. People can decide for themselves. I won't attempt to sway them by negatively characterizing you or your actions.

I remember now.

Your blog to do with as you please. However, if you do swap the piece from the shite news site for a piece from a reputable news site, delete my comments since the post will be different from the post on which I originally commented (and will contain nothing that interests me).

"The thing with the dog shit and weeds crowd is they tend to feel put upon when the community takes back it's streets, parks, and other public spaces by doing the positive things necessary to have nice attractive active town."

Fascinating stuff, this. Sounds almost... reactionary.

Some final questions before you pack up your blog and leave:

Do you receive a gold star each time you utilize a broad brush to denigrate a segment of society?

Or perhaps there's a neighborhood improvement district-subsidized punch card where you receive a point for each public display of smug contempt for your fellow citizens?

Enjoy life in the echo chamber.

Ya know. Your response is exactly why I struggled with a legitimate response about negative interest rates which it seems you do not understand because your response was nonsensical to say the least. Instead you start with name calling, denigration and an incessant need to be righteous in your bigoted, virulent lust to label people in color coded boxes, same think boxes, easily assigned groups rather than individuals. What I do with my assets has nothing to do with your original lame post. The fact that you quote idiots like John Oliver and the Huffington Post, NY Times or CNN as your source documents, and now BI, is also indicative of your unbelievable bias and inability to research quality data. Like you said to me once, your post and context are mean, nasty and belligerent. Frankly, you are a blog bully. You seem to thrive in this uber left sanctimonious academic bullshit and refuse to believe others also have legitimate viewpoints that differ from yours. That's ok. You are right. This is your blog. I shan't comment again. Ever. Because you no longer offer any original thought, content or real opinion based on fact. You just seem to spout the DNC name calling demeaning rhetoric not learning through this election what I and many many others saw. Social engineering sucks. As I've said before, I'm a fiscal conservative. I'm a rather progressive moral voter who embraces small government. If that makes me a hated racist xenophobic reactionary cunt then so be it. Those words no longer mean what they used to because of people like you. But I say unto you, suck it up buttercup. I was right. You were obviously glaringly ignorant of how America is feeling and no amount of highly educated social justice warrior bs could help you see why, which may not interest you at all. I truly used to enjoy your blog and respected your differing and interesting opinion. Now, I'm bored because you offer nothing but diseased arrogance. Have a nice day. And repeat after me, President Elect Donald J. Trump.

Of course, now that you've moved on up it's time to relocate the undesirables.

I know you're not a fan of bus terminals, so - in the spirit of community service - I considered volunteering my time and the use of my vehicle to drive a couple of your soon-to-be ex-locals to the nearest Greyhound station. Then I thought about your situation and I realized my vehicle is just too damned small for the task at hand.

What you concerned citizens really need is a train. Not one of those pansy-ass cushy passenger trains. No, what you people need is a freight train. A big tough-looking freight train with lots of roomy freight cars so all the undesirables in your recently-occupied location receive the message that you're serious about disposing of the accumulated trash.

Once your group obtains the train, you can focus on the easy and efficient resettlement of large numbers of undesirables miles away from your newly-purified lands. Preferably to a nice camp-like setting in the countryside, away from the water so the sounds from the camp won't interrupt your local holiday festivities. (Plus, you have to maintain the facade of plausible deniabilty, right?)

Of couse, with Winter about to descend upon the Northeast you'll have to provide the resettled undesirables with a means to heat their camp (temporarily at least *wink*wink*) I'll get back to you if I think of a permanent solution to that problem.

Spoiler alert:

I've seen this movie before. It doesn't end well for the soon-to-be ex-locals.

I remember now.
