race for the cure and other 5 k walk/runs...what's your real opinion on them?

One lady wrote an article criticizing the idea that every charity now has to host a 5 k walk ( er use to be run..guess folks don't run anymore?)

So it made me wonder your thoughts on them? In Kc it seems like every damn week there is a 5 k for something...

Now I'm not against charities..I'm not against people "running for the cure".

I just think it is disheartening when you look up the stats and see how much of that money raised actually goes to research..you know .for the actual cure..

and how much goes into setting up the race/the overhead cost/ how much of it goes to corporate/ how much of it goes to employee salaries/ceo salaries...

and finally legal fees...charities like susan b komen will sue you to the poor house if you dare use a pink ribbon or use one of their copy righted slogans.

Sure your raising awareness .. but is any of that money really going to find a cure?

I was curious if you "okay" with a good portion of your going to these various cost.

Now I'm not naive..noone works for free...shit cost money...yet what good is a charity if a good portion of the donations are gong to pay for your overcost.

Hate to say it but I feel the same way about the girlscouts...I don't want the cookies..if I am gonna donate then I walk up to the denmother and give her the money. My mom was part of a local troop and I know how little the troop gets out of the cookie sales..I'd rather the troop have my money than some fatcat.

Like i said I am cool with a charity using funds in order to run it's operations....yet your a fucking charity....no need to have a CEO with a salary of 200,000 dollars a year +...that is just insane.

I'm really surprised no charity has tried to do the "ice bucket challenge" again...well not the ice bucket...but something similar...

Men are stupid..we just are.. I'm surprised their isn't a nut kicking challenge for testicular cancer awareness...oh wait perhaps I should start that charity...do you wanna donate? if you give 10 dollars per kick I guess I could easily find a hot chick to kick some willing men in the nuts for the money...

and I promise to only take 100,000 dollars as my starting CEO salary ( you know for overhead)...at that price your getting a bargin
