This is a truly amazing song...I'm delighted to see that I'm not alone in loving it. But.....(there's always a "but", right?) Did you know Rod covered it? Of course Rod covered it...almost all of his catalog is made up of covers (he's raided the songbooks of Tom Waits and Sam Cooke numerous times), some surpassing the original, but in this case, I beg to differ. Check out the original version of "Broken Arrow" (watch?v=MiOISz3S8UQ), written and performed by one of the great unsung heroes of rock & roll, Robbie Robertson, the lead guitarist of the legendary group The Band. Rod did a nice job with his cover, don't get me wrong, but for a less-pop, more soulful and personal take on the song (Robertson is part Native American, thus the arrow motif), give the original a spin. I'd love to know what you think. ~LastGuy "It's great to be here. It's great to be anywhere." -- Keith Richards "There are many spokes on the wheel of life. This is from his self-titled solo debut from 1987...guarantee you'd love the whole thing. My personal favorite is his 1991 followup, "Storyville," which has a very cool New Orleans sound with great guest spots from the Neville Bros. and Bruce Hornsby. They are two of the best albums that almost no one listens to...pure gems, in my humble opinion. ~LastGuy "It's great to be here.
