Each day several kinds of animals become extinct,
but a..holes obviously never die out.

Sorry, but I can't be matter-of-factly on Trophy hunting.

I hope the Hunter becomes the hunted and ends up like Cecil.

Whilst I abhor the actions of those he was paying and the dentist himself for even thinking that what he was indulging in could possibly fall into the category of sport, I equally abhor the new hunt that seems to have started.

An internet witch hunt to me smacks of the lynch mob and I wish to take no part in it.

If - and for now I believe it is still an "if" - the dentist has committed a crime then certainly he should be tried in a court of law. NOT in the court of public opinion. There have been many many cases recently of internet opprobrium drivng the innocent to their self-inflicted deaths.

I believe that is equally abhorrent. And if someone chooses to take the law into their own hands and murder the dentist, I suspect there will be many hands applauding the act around the internet world. I shudder at the thought.

So, while I share your disgust at the notion that big game trophy hunting is even considered "legal", there are countries that allow it (for the simple reason that it attracts the mighty dollar).

There are many criminals involved in this despicable act. I will not add my name to that list.

Apologies for not adding a joke at the end.

Living in Minnesota, even though I don't hunt, I do respect those that do. We need them to thin the herds of deer and, sometimes, bear to keep overpopulation in check, which animals from starving to death and becoming safety hazards for motorists.

That said, the African lion is teetering on the edge of the Endangered List with an estimated 34,000 left; obviously, there is no overpopulation problem here, so it would make good sense to end lion hunting all together. I have a real problem with senseless trophy hunting, however, and I do believe Palmer is a poacher who should face extradition and whatever punishment the Zimbabwe government deems appropriate.

A joke at the end wouldn't have been appropriate here, I think.

Though I joined in the hunt, I agree with you.
BUT
I think it is understandable that people give in an opinion and express their disgust on certain ongoings on the Internet
because it is the only way we have left to speak out on what we believe in.

I think it is a sign of the complete helplessness people feel at the sight of injustice, crime and the incredible privileges that come with a "fat purse" (that's what we say in German).

Internet hunt is NOT nice, it is an alarming sign for the changes in our societies and the loss of equal rights depending on your financial situation.

You're right about how the internet offers us a route to expressing our feelings. I suspect I over-reacted but it does upset me how easily internet anger turns to death threats on the net.

Those two women in the UK who led the campaign to have a woman on an English bank note received appalling threats. Maybe the dentist is more deserving of opprobrium than they but my fear is that the baying mob encourages the have-a-go loonies to think they will be heroes if they carry out those threats. And I think that taints us all.

I should shut up now!!!
