I'm still trying to wrap my head around Australian politics and have been following the Brexit thing closely. I'm getting a bit of UK politics on my news stream and boyo those guys are harsh and just as divided as many others. The American elections are like watching that blond chick in slasher movies reaching for a door knob with rising music while those of us watching are screaming....stoppppppppp.....are you crazzzzzzzy, get out...run. Sadly.....she always opens the door.

Hey, don't blame me...I'm going down with the ship with Bernie.

Katie

I too am horrified!

As your Britain, I fear Corbyn would be a disaster!

Australia, hopefully, will have a steady ship - the Budget was just announced and seems fair! Unlike some previous years....

He ain't been elected to anything, not even dog catcher. He will become the Republican Nominee.he will run against the Democratic Nominee or those of any other party.
Judging from the news, not many real Republicans are supporting him and are likely not to vote in the fall election from the sound of things.

Although I really dont talk much about politics......... Think about it ....Whoever became president.... does not always have full power to do what they want when they want ... you still have the house and the senate to deal with .....And as history has shown us... you can have a great idea (for the people) does not mean you will get full support from either.....
However... deporting french fries?........ I say impeach ! ...hahah!

You know, during the presidency of that great "liberal" Dwight D. Eisenhower in the 1950s, the policy proposals of Sen. Sanders would fall in-line with the New Deal centrists of the Democratic Party. In fact, this country has been a socialist democracy since June 14, 1775, almost a year before the Declaration of Independence, when the Continental Congress voted to establish the U.S. Army. It wasn't private, unfunded militias that defeated King George, it was a government-created, tax-supported fighting force and navy (and some timely help from another socialist nation, France).

Bernie's proposals can be paid for by increasing the marginal tax rate on the upper 1% to a little over 50% (they had it much worse under that commie Ike, when it was 90, putting and end to off-shore tax evasion, increase estate taxes on estates greater than $3.5M, double the capital gains tax for the wealthiest 2%, cap the home mortgage interest deduction, establish a Wall Street speculation tax, and substantially reduce the military budget.

Bernie sounds radical only because the Republicans and RepublicanLite politicians like the Clintons have dragged this country so far to the right. Would my taxes go up under Bernie's plans? Absolutely. But do you know what the difference would be? For a change, I'd actually be getting something I value for my taxes. Healthcare that I could actually access, an increase in real wages, desperately needed infrastructure improvements, college tuition for my kids, and the knowledge that those same kids won't have die on some Syrian battlefield fighting for who knows what—that sounds like a pretty good return on my investment. It sure beats seeing my tax dollars going to corporate welfare and perks for the rich while the rest of the country turns to shit.

Nods...
It's sorta fascinating, when I make myself pay attention.

Suppose I said that, in the end - repubs will vote for Trump ~ no matter what...really ~ and dems (like Me) for Clinton, who I think will prevail in their primary...

...mostly due to how their brains are wired (for more or for less fear & selfishness?

Lets' just say that the USA has a

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong

history of, among other shit, resisting quick change (like Sanders is proposing) regardless of how much sense it makes, or money it would save/make or lives it would save/enrich ...(I have some experience in this matter)...so far, 2016 looks no different.

Time will tell.
I, like you, remain encouraged.
