wifi is coming Since moving into my new place, I have not had an internet connection. Every time I wanted to put a post on the blog, or upload a new clip for sale, I had to do so using the free wifi at the library. Thankfully said library was/is only four blockS away, and only closed one day a week, so I’ve been able to get by without having it in my home for a while. It’s been inconvenient, but not impossible. The biggest problem with using the internet at the library has been dealing with the noise and disruption associated with being in a public place. I’ve put up with it out of necessity, but that should finally come to an end this week. Thursday, punkin and I should have wifi up and running in our home. Three weeks ago I ordered internet service via a company called Frontier, and initially things seemed to go very smoothly, but their request for a copy of my lease agreement caused some unforeseen delays. I was told to fax it, and did so several times, but they never seemed to receive it on the other end. I think I sent the fax six separate times, and talked to at least that many customer service people on the phone, before finally demanding a supervisor. She waived the need for a copy of my lease agreement, finding in their records that the tenant previous to me had service, and scheduled installation for Thursday. Considering the hassle I’ve been through so far, I am cautiously optimistic. What does this mean to you? I suppose it means you’ll be seeing my posts later in the evening now, which is what I would prefer. It also means I’m bound to get more done, because I’m not hurrying up so I can flee the library and get back to my apartment. Increasing my productivity is of utmost importance now, more than ever, so I hope it means I’ll be writing about getting more done. One thing is certain; it means I can finally get some serious work done on my own site. I am way behind on that particular project… |
