So very true.

A dignified silence works so much better and you never know bridges may be build again. But with just pushing and refusing to back down those bridges may well be burnt forever.

In a sense I've experienced both. The former was once as a result of misunderstanding of some sort and the bridge has reappeared and it's been nice to walk on it again.
