Drool is not a turn on. Gags have a practical use in many occasion , aside from teh obvious discomfort, embarsment and such. it is just useful when you playing in a place with thin walls. Screams are not always a good thing to hear outside of the dungeon.

Never thought it was a turn on, but just a reality that it happens sometimes.

I too think it is just a matter of showing control!

Does not appeal to me either...

Now, that is an interesting question. One I've never even considered. I guess I'm in the same camp as Renegade1963...not really a turn on, but not a turn off either...just an occupational hazard of the activity, I guess.

I think it's also just one more level of control that is taken away. And there's definitely a level of humiliation for the one doing the drooling. It is most likely the humiliation aspect that the Dom/Domme finds appealing.
