Another dimension to the pubic hair debate...

Source; BBC website today

"Women and men who regularly trim or remove all their pubic hair run a greater risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) than those who do not, research suggests.
Doctors say small tears in the skin from shaving or trimming could make it easier for infections to take hold.
But they also say groomers - particularly extreme ones - tend to be more sexually active too.
STIs are passed on through unprotected sex or genital contact.
The findings come from a survey of more than 7,500 American adults, published in Sexually Transmitted Infections - a specialist BMJ journal.
The report, led by doctors from the University of California, San Francisco, said the two most likely explanations for the link between grooming and STIs were micro-tears in the skin, which increased the risk of viral STIs, and groomers being more likely to engage in risky sexual behaviour with more sexual partners".

On the positive side, less chance of pubic lice!

When I visited a gay club as young homosexual 22 year old in 1985 with my natural pubes, I was told to remove all hair. First time I got it done as kind of introduction ritual, using shaving cream and old fashioned shaving knife. In that time I was told NEVER to use an electric shaving device as these were supposed to cause infections.

I shaved always before going to any gay club and I remember that I often caused small bleeding wounds which I disinfected with medical alcohol. In 1985 no condoms were used unless for anal sex, and it was common practice to get sperm on the skin.In 1985 I was told to be smooth to look even younger than I was, while most 45+ visitors wear full natural pubes. Today most men I see shave their pubes.

Later in my 30's and 40's I was told to keep my pubes, to avoid wounds from shaving while seeing different men. In recent years I am again shaven 'for the visual effect' in the gay sauna. Regarding the risk on STI, I was recommended to wear slippers at my feet while I was used to walk naked and barefoot. Today condoms are common practice in male-to-male sex, but indirect infections via small wounds anywhere on the body, via the water of a Jacuzzi or via barefoot from the floor seem to be a risk for STI.

Being different from the majority of people as homosexual my pleasure is in being used by others...

The function of pubic hair is to protect and to absorb perspiration , thus preventing sweat rash .

Arousing phemorones cling to the hair ,a point of attraction .

Nature didn t make any mistakes here .

Remember . . . . shaving of the cunny is a recent trend ,must so many mindlessly follow the herd ?

As for me , hair , trimmed hair or shaved . . . . . all have their charm .

I refuse to make any comments here about fish soup! Particularly since I will be over on your side of the pond, somewhere warmer than you are, for the holidays experimenting amongst other things with the local seafood (I mean that literally not metaphorically!) and I sincerely hope it is mostly pube-free!

I choose not to care to much about this recent study finds. I simply cannot have sex with a lot of pubes going on. It is quite simply a turn.off.

I once went to have a session with a prospect sub/slave. I had known her for a while, and was looking forward to having her naked at my disposal. When she laid there before me a saw a few long black hairs being left behind in the area between her vulva and her bellybutton. And I lost all my sexual appetite then and there. Packed my tools, left and never saw her again. To this day I can't think of nothing but her long black astray hairs, when I think of her an that session...
Lucky you weren't born 50 years ago when no-one shaved or your DNA would die out - oh, you were

That all makes sense. Perhaps better not to sleep around much?

Still not prompting me to grow a bush
Yep, plus I am sure that people who std test before new relationships are (mostly) immune to this provided they and their partners don't sleep around.

I think these scientist are mere making an unrelated correlation to justify their studies...pure bullshit probably funded through tax payer grants
There is clearly a correlation but no obvious proof or evidence of causation. Who knows who funded it, though pure BS is probably a bit strong. Just not very interesting.

    Follow the money?

Give someone doing a 'study' enough money and they will conclude anything.

A typical conclusion being that the topic requires more 'study'.

    And, accordingly, more funding.
It's a marginally interesting correlation. Not sure there would be much appetite anywhere by anyone to take it further in this particular case so unless you want to crowdfund it I suspect it will be the last you hear!

    " groomers - particularly extreme ones " ???
Do these people groom while bungee jumping or as they sky dive ?
Why have i not seen this on the tube ?

Are you an extreme groomer ?
    Ok enough questions hahaha

Hmmm food for thought . . . but so far so good so i'll keep on shaving . . . or possibly try the extreme grooming
Ha, you did make me smile! Cue for a very cheap and tacky reality show? Do you think we could get Simon Cowell, or maybe Bear Grylls to fund it? "Extreme grooming"? Followed by "Celebrity Grooming"?

Maybe not but there's been a few posts on here expressing strong views one way or another (usually the other) so I thought, having seen this this morning, that I'd add a different perspective. I agree it probably doesn't add much though
