If every metropolis had a Superman, how special would that be? Keep an eye on the sky, yours is out there. As for being needed, sadly we men, even the men of steel, (mostly) have fragile egos, so yes we need to be needed, so in addition to the spider slaying, you might want to feign an inability to open the occasional jar or allow him to contribute to other such cave man-ly pursuits and then act all impressed when he saves the day. As sad as it sounds, even Wonder Woman has to occasionally step back and let the dude in the blue tights think he's the most important member of the Justice League.

I don't think there are heroes or Knights in Shinning Armor, but regular people who enjoy the need and feel of companionship.

I wouldn't worry about. Its not that you are scary, but simply prefer the right fit.

All of that stated is on behalf of Dr. Phil. No charge.

As I'm sitting in my car writing this, I'm getting emotional. Just because I can take care of myself, I can defend myself against creeps, I support myself, and know how to make myself come when I want. Does that mean that I'm gonna be alone? I am incapable of faking it for someone. So here's the rub. I'm 42 and single, and that doesn't look to be changing (43 is still some months off, thank god!)

I think this reply was longer than the original post.

Oh, no, my verbosity is contagious! 42? What I wouldn't give for 42 again. *sigh* You've got five years before you hit my predicament of 47 going on 60. A LOT can happen in five years...keep positive! I'm sure there's many, many guys out there who would happily toss a creep onto the third rail for you (figuratively speaking!) to defend his lady's honor.
