I have a bit of a, shall we say, problem.... The skin on my nipples is very, very delicate. It takes very little to cause tearing or rawness. Even a lace bra will cause me to have sore nipples in a short period of time. (I can get around it by wearing one that is lightly lined, thank goodness!) Is there any way to “toughen” up my nipples? |

*de-lurks/de-cloaks* supposedly fresh urine - which is sterile BTW - toughens up fingertips... so it might work on nips. *runs back to the shadows* gooeyfruitbat . . . I rather be cute than tuff (but it doesn't hurt...) /|\_^..^_/|\ THE BATTY !!!!

I would suggest seeking the advice of a dermatologist before a smartass pervert like myself gives you some offbeat sarcastic advice that may seem plausable and actually may worsen the problem if tried.

When I was pregnant it was suggested that doing rougher things with them was one of the best ways. I cannot for the life of me right now recall the lanolin product. It is the only one that is safe for an infant to nurse while the lanolin is still applied. It works wonders. If I remember I will come back. Sadly I don't have any right now. I have kept some around on and off since d00d was tiny. *hugs and giggles* L Half of writing history is hiding the truth. - Malcom Reynolds

Gooey, how wonderful to see you! But I think I'll pass on the urine tip.... Rusty, I have that appointment scheduled. Just thought I'd ask around as I'm certain I can't be the ONLY woman with this problem! Lhi and Annette, thank you! I thought I'd read somewhere that mothers who were going to nurse had some type of ointment they used, but couldn't find it. Of course, if I could have figured out just which words to use in my search, that might have helped! lol

Regular nipple torture from a sadistic Master has done mine well to toughen them up. (It is good to have yours checked out to make sure there isn't any real issue.)

I nursed all three of my kids until they were two--talk about 'tough titties' eh?? but seriously, the pinching, twisting, (and now my fav, plastic clothespins) do a number on the skin, I have always used, and still do use, extra virgin olive oil... Thank you, Gooey! I'm going to go try that one now.... Should I use "wimpy nipples" as my search terms? lol Rusty, I promise to tell you how my nipples are doing.... For some reason, I think He kind of likes kat's suggestion! Awwww, tigerdick! I wanted to hear what you would suggest! Kat, He has offered that "treatment" several times. That's why I need to have them toughened up a bit! Arianna! It's so wonderful to see you! I promise to pass along what information I receive from the doctor. (Actually, I see the nurse practitioner this week.) It's a bit frustrating to deal with, you know? Elusive, do you use it after the torture to speed the healing? Or do you use it before and it reduces the tearing? Right now, I am cursing the sensitive skin I have....
