I think your friend's summary pretty much nailed it. For most men it's a fantasy, an indulgence they want to think about but making the leap in real life is another matter. I have had relationships where we explored some aspects of it but it was limited. We both knew it was unlikely to ever become a long term thing, so it was acceptable to both of us to just explore, see what we thought, and then stop. We still remain friends to this day but in relationships with others I think the real difficulty for many men, me included, is the public declaration. I'm perfectly happy submitting to a woman in private but I have always needed to be able to treat each other as equals in public, so others didn't know. I need my privacy. If I had to be publicly open about being submissive ( or dominant ) in a relationship I think I would find it too intrusive and that would bear too heavily on the relationship. So I guess the question is - does FLR have to be a public declaration or something private that you both work out between you without the outside world knowing ? Apologies if I've rambled a bit too much but I hope it added something to your discussion.

I've asked that question a number of times. #1 and #3 are what I believe for the most part, but #2 wasn't something I've considered before. Interesting point.
