When visiting my mother stayed up until I came home when I went out with friends. She said that she just couldn't sleep and worried about me. Thankfully she doesn't know how often I go out when she's not visiting (well, it's not that often that I go out but I don't stay at home every night).

Yes, Mother's can definitely be like that. My Mother, God rest her soul, was constantly checking on me. There are days now I wish I could hear her on the other end of the phone.

Sighs...sometimes, specially between moms and daughters, this is this love hate power thing that goes on....and sometimes as may be the case here, if she does have medical issues.....she's unable to cope at times and that's when she calls you...then gets angry at herself and you at feeling the need to need someone. We independent women are hard work.....even with or especially with each other.

After that call its a walk around the house three times and make a cup of tea with honey....then smile......she loves you enough to get mad at you.....

my mother, rest her soul) was a bit of a gypsy whereas she took the bus all over. she'd go to the beach, malls, bingo ( she didnt drive either) between my sister and I we'd get so frantic if we called and she didnt answer the cell or house phone. when she finally called us back so was just so carefree about her travels... she did this into her mid-80's...
