Idiots Slow Down

I am fairly new to Alabama, after growing up in the NYC suburbs, living in TN and then the Philly suburbs. Yes, there is some culture shock, but the most shocking aspect of life in Alabama? Why, it is how much faster and aggressive the drivers are here than anywhere else I lived. Yes, I have found drivers in Montgomery to drive much faster than those around NYC or Philly. Yes, drivers here are much more aggressive then in NYC.

I, as someone who learned to drive in the NYC, need to learn to driver faster to fit in down South. I'm shocked.

No Free Wifi

What is the deal with businesses in the US not offering free WiFi? I have stayed in plenty of hotels in the US without free WiFi. I have never stayed in a hotel outside of the US that did not offer free WiFi.

I have thought to myself, hey, this is just a first world problem and there are bigger problems in the world. Then I realize that I have been to third world countries and every single one that I have visited I was able to get free WiFi from hotels, coffee shops etc.

What has set off this current rant is that I recently moved to a new city, one without a Barnes and Noble in it. I admit to being an avid reader (gasp). Now my new city does have a Books a Million in it. Well, guess what, in order to use the WiFi in the BAM store you need to purchase a membership! BN offers free WiFi to all shoppers, members or not. Well, that is one store off my list. I'll gladly drive the hour an a half to get to BN than shop in a store that makes you pay for WiFi that is just down the street.

Well, driving to the gym early this morning I saw that the first Christmas lights of the season are up. I drive the same way every day so I doubt that they just forget to take them down and all of a sudden they came on one day. A tad bit early but hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.

So in bed you just lay there?

I have been emailing back and forth someone that might be a fake but is certainly a flake. They initially wanted my phone number to which I said I chat here first and only give out my number when I know someone. They seemed alright with this. Then they asked me about myself. So I went into being a submissive, what I'm looking for etc.

Their response was "Submissive? So does that mean in bed you just lay there?"

Hmmm...how to answer this one? I mean, shouldn't you have some knowledge of D/s and what that means if you are on this site? I mean, just a little bit of knowledge of what a sub actually is.....

I want to respond "Only if you are as boring in bed as you come across in your emails" but I'm open to suggestions

Anniversary

I'm not sure if half year anniversaries count but this is my blog so why not? This month marks my 11.5 year anniversary of being single. Wow, who knew it could go so long?

The funny thing is that 4 years ago, a friend/coworker made a bet with me. She bet that I would be married in 5 years time and I said that I wouldn't. I told her that she was better off making that bet with another coworker, who was 60 and still married at the time.

Flashforward 4 years, and I'm winning my bet, still single, as for that other coworker? He got divorced and remarried in that time. It is a horrible thing always being right....

The System is Broken

I needed no further proof that the hiring and recruitment process in the US is broken but I did in fact receive it. I broke down and applied to a position at Walmart the other day. The job application required me to fill out a 70 question behavioral based interview! When you have to answer 70 questions to work minimum wage in retail you know something is seriously wrong with the country.

I'm a free Gold member again. Well, my hiatus from Gold status only lasted a week. I don't know if it matters or not as Blogs are having problems and not showing up. I just need to learn to laugh at it more than I am currently doing I guess!

This post comes from the Why am I not Surprised file. In the 2 days that I have lost my Gold membership I have gotten 6 emails/ice breakers. Imagine that, as a Gold I got almost nothing and now that I am not Gold I get 6. Wow, I wonder how that works out. *sarcasm*

This picture made me think. The first thing that got me was that I found it on a professional networking site and not some other dating site etc.

Yes, it is true but also it can be said that you don't really know what you are getting in a relationship until you know that person for awhile. It is often the case that a person will show their best face during the Honeymoon Period and then you learn the quirks that you don't like about them. Then again, there are some people who just like to complain when they really did know what they are getting into. Would make an interesting discussion.
