A Bad Spell Jul 6, 2007 12:07 am

Hello All,

Just a quick hopefully coherent note to tell you that after my last post I hit a really bad spell. Nothing I am not used to but it is hard to type or sit at the computer for long. I will be back around soon. Thanks to those that have offered support and concern. I will be fine. When the weather changes it gets the pain going (not the good pain either, sigh) and it takes awhile to get everything back in order again.

OK I can not look at anything now because I have been gone so long. Can everyone please please please please send me a short e-mail so I can look around again? I would appreciate it a lot. I forgot how bad it can be to be a plain old ordinary standard member. Unfortunately finances as they are that is all I can be for now. Thank you.

Long time no post... Jun 13, 2007 2:56 am

Hello everyone. I don't have anything amazing or enlightening to say tonight couldn't sleep and have been thinking of altland lately. I can not figure out where I fit into it all. I did have a guy that completely and totally creeped me out so I took a break. I didn't mean to ignore any of you that I do consider friends, but someone close to my town decided to go all crazy stalker type, luckily he never did actually find me but it got close enough to scare me a lot. I do not know if he was truly stalkerish or just really persistent but decided that since I had never met him but he was trying to zero in on where I went to school at the time where my son went to school and what towns I hung out in that enough was enough and I would just disappear for awhile. It worked. Since I graduated shortly thereafter and virtually disappeared so did he. It did teach me that there are some crazy men out there and I just withdrew. So I am gonna be in and out now, unfortunately I can no longer type when my son is awake since he has learned to read. LOL. I am sure I am not the only one with that problem. My other email is not working again yet but it probably will be soon. I tried to reactivate it but the server was down. Talk to you soon, my friends.

Ok so I was gone for around 2 months and when I get back every thing looks all new and improved, but in reality it is more of a pain in the ass. I can do even less with my free standard membership than I used to. I have not gotten spell check to work at all. The order window is more annoying than ever AND I already had a post disappear and I typed it straight into the window instead of saving it first. It may have just been rambling non-sense, but I bet it was my best post ever!! It would have generated at least 150 comments. Well ok maybe 1-5 comments. Still I feel like I got welcomed back in typical ALT fashion. The more things change.....

Hi Everyone I am back....... Jul 7, 2006 9:04 pm

Hi Everyone. I am back. It's been awhile. I have been having some health issues. Nothing horrible just enough to make me really not care about doing anything other than what must be done. I have also been reflecting on life, the universe and everything (Douglas Adam's fans can really appreciate this).

I have no Earth shattering revelations, nothing new to report. I am just working on some personal and business projects. I have missed blogging and decided to get back to it when I can.

I wonder how much has changed around here? Who has come and gone in the month and a half sabatical I took? Fill me in on the interesting things, but leave out any of the blog war stuff. Stop by and say hi to let me know you are still around too.

New direction May 6, 2006 9:32 am

Well, I am officially done with school and pick up my diploma next week. Now I have a Master's and am wondering what next.

I have decided to kind of pull back into myself and figure out what I really want. I can write a strategic plan for a business and yet I have no plan for my life. I am spending time working on me for now. If I normally contact you and you are not hearing from me, know that I am just trying to figure out what direction I want to go now so I can pursue it. I mean that in my career life as well as my personal life.

Now is a good time for me to take stock and figure out what I want, and how I am going to get it. I am working on setting personal goals, something I have never done before, and figuring out how I am going to accomplish them. This is not a time for me to meet new people and try to keep up all of my correspondence. It is a time for me. I will answer you, it just may take a bit. I am not ignoring anyone, I am just finally taking some time for me.

LITTLE KNOWN MARITIME FACTS, Funny!!!! May 3, 2006 9:50 pm

In honor of finally finishing my Master's degree (don't worry I am still a sub), I decided to post this little educational announcement. It was really funny. I love these kid's answers. Enjoy. I will be blogging more regularly again since I will once again know the meaning of free time.

A number of primary schools were doing a project on "The Sea." Kids were asked to draw pictures or write about their experiences. Teachers got together to compare the results and put together some of the 'better'ones.
1. This is a picture of an octopus. It has eight testicles. (Kelly age 6)

2. Some fish are dangerous. Jellyfish can sting. Electric eels can give you a shock. They have to live in caves under the sea because I think they
have to plug themselves in to chargers. (Christopher age 7)

3. Oysters' balls are called pearls. (James age 6)

4. If you are surrounded by sea you are an Island. If you don't have sea all around you, you are incontinent. (Wayne age 7)

5. I think sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily Richardson. She's not my friend no more. (Kyle age 6)

6. A dolphin breathes through an asshole on the top of its head. (Billy age

7. When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the ocean. Sometimes, when the wind didn't blow the sailors would whistle to
make the wind come. My brother said they would be better off eating beans.
(William age 7)

8. I like mermaids. They are beautiful, and I like their shiny tails. How do mermaids get pregnant? (Helen age 6)

9. When you go swimming in the sea, it is very cold, and it makes my willy shrink. (Kevin age 6)

Intolerance and Ignorance Apr 24, 2006 7:00 pm

Recently I listened to The Camel Club by David Baldacci. Because of my tight schedule I listen to a lot of audio books. I love fiction and have found this to be a great way to keep up on my reading. One of the characters made a very interesting comment on intolerance and ignorance that I found worth noting.

I will not get the quote exact because I was listening to it and not reading, but it was something like, "I have found that ignorance and intolerance go hand in hand. You seldom find one without the other."

That made me think a lot. What a very true statement. I can not personally think of an example where I found one without the other. I live in the heart of intolerance for different types of people. This intolerance is accompanied by an ignorance about the differences and the similarities of these people to themselves. It has bothered me ever since I was a child. I have always had friends of every conceivable religion and race. I was always interested in the differences in belief and customs of people different than myself.

Then I got to thinking of things here in Blogland. I do not want to start anything with anyone, but just remind everyone that when you are intolerant of others you may in fact be showing an ignorance of the other person. Maybe they believe differently than you because they come from different circumstances. The other person may not be able to be like you. It does not mean they disrespect you or that you disrespect them it just means you are different. We should all learn from these differences and not just denounce people different from ourselves. Just something to think about.

Two more quotes:
"To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant. "
Alcott, Amos Bronson

"The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about."
Dyer, Wayne
